Casa cenote

A cave diver during his cave dive. Cave dives are offererd by the boutique PADI tecrec and cave dive center Diving4you in Playa del Carmen, Mexico

CASA CENOTE is located in the middle of the mangroves and is more like a river than a typical cenote and connects the longest underwater cave system in the world, Sac Actun, to the ocean via a tunnel of about 50 meters. It is also called Cenote Manati and it is said that manatees previously lived in the cenote.

It is one of the few surface rivers in the Yucatan Peninsula and gives the diver the sensation of diving under the mangroves among both freshwater and saltwater fish. The dive begins in a large open area and then takes us further and further into the mangroves as we reach the entrance to the cavern area. The line of the cavern takes us close to the surface to where the open area ends between huge rocks covered in moss and green algae decorate the bottom and with a bit of luck even a moreletii also called "Mexican crocodile".
