Open to the public since 2008 DREAMGATE is truly a “gateway to our dreams”. The spectacular entrance has a rope and pulley to lower all your heavy gear to the deck at water level and the cenote is accessed by descending some wooden steps to the terrace below. Cenote Dreamgate offers us two dives in the same site, one in the upstream section and one in the downstream section. This means that we enter the cavern area once with the current and for the other we dive against the current. The upstream line is the most richly decorated and at the furthest point of the dive there is an air pocket with a fully decorated ceiling. Back at the entrance, the light entering the cenote outlines the stalactites for a breathtaking view.
The downstream line is quite different; it is also fully decorated and communicates with another cenote. Many jungle tree roots enter the cave to draw water and release a type of organic acid that colors the water emerald green. At the farthest point of the circuit you can see the light of the other cenote. Both dives offer spectacular landscapes with an infinity of stalactites and stalagmites that make this place one of the most beautiful cenotes of the Mayan Riviera. Precisely because of this wealth of formations and sediments on the bottom this dive is for expert divers who have had previous experience of diving in cenotes.
